I realized one of the most interesting this going on typographically in the document was the contrast between the very modern, angular sans serif Din and the very expressive, curvaceous serif Caslon. I decided to set the contents page in slightly larger point size. With the section names in Din and the page numbers in Caslon (see bottom image). I think the contrast is really attractive and quite appropriate for the content of the book. Overall the contents page feels more consistent with the rest of the book.
